I’m actually not really sure how long ago these dates were announced – likely ages ago, considering how out of the freaking loop I am, but I don’t care because I love this band so if it’s already been drilled into your brain, then I’ll do some more drilling. I repeat: I love this band. That’s not an easy thing to say about many bands, but I LOVE this band. The first time I heard The Mountain Goats was in a car on the way to (or from?) one of my frequent trips to the bay area in 2005 (or was it 2006?). Who cares? I remember it was night-time and my friend wouldn’t let me drive which was probably a good idea, and he kept playing this CD I’d never heard and wasn’t really listening to, but every once in a while some of the lyrics would get through my thick skull and I’d LOL for real, and wake everybody up and feel like chatting.
He shoulda let me drive.
Anyway, I’ve never seen them play before so I’m stoked to let you all know that you can add The Mountain Goats to the (fucking AMAZING) list of bands to check out in October/November. Stay updated on all things tour-related at their official site, but dig the tour dates and a couple free (and legal!) tracks via the weapon. My personal fave, ‘Fault Lines’ and one from “Heretic Pride” – released on 4AD in February.
