Melvins Release New Album – Stupid Name, Good Tunes

Let me just preface by saying it’s late and I’m tired – I do dig the new Melvins track (see below) but haven’t gotten my hands on a copy of the new album so I can’t really say much about it, except for the name is super cheesey and I hate it. C’mon, really? The Bride Screamed Murder? Hopefully the tunes will cancel out the album name. Anyway, dig some words on the subject (my favorite of which is ‘soul-crushing’) that didn’t come from my fingertips:

Seattle sludge masters Melvins proudly turned two this week – two decades, that is! The band’s twentieth album, The Bride Screamed Murder, hit stores on Tuesday and is streaming in its soul-crushing entirety through the weekend on AOL Music.

Having premiered military cadenced album-opener “The Water Glass” on AOL Noisecreep a few weeks ago, The Bride Screamed Murder offers eight more punishing tracks, including a brutal cover of “My Generation.” Melvins are touring through June and some of July in support of TBSM, including dates with now-broken-up Ipecac labelmates ISIS, who have announced that this will be their final tour. Full dates below.

THE WEAPON LOVES ISIS. Actually, let me rephrase: the weapon loves the mosquito control EP that came out in like 1998, that they got from some free magazine with a bunch of hydra head news at chain reaction when they were 15. Not much else. Again, see below.
