NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
Posted on April 10, 2008 | 2 CommentsNotice, please, that this post's headline does not say "New kids on the blog." but that it does in fact say "NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK." That's no typo, folks. I figured that because our genius tag-line "New kids on the blog" (which took its first breath of life in Cody's Midfield General post) is so similar to the most obscenely popular boy band of my generation "New Kids On -
NO AGE Cover Bjork Classic
Posted on April 9, 2008 | No CommentsThat's right bitches, Radiohead favorites (I can't find the photo of Thom Yorke in the No Age Tshirt!) and Los Angeles natives No Age have released into the wild their cover of Bjork's 'It's Oh So Quiet'. I can remember when I was 15, driving upto San Bernardino to see Pink at the Orange Blossom Festival, and listening to Post in the car all the way from Long Beach. There

Band To Watch: Some Days
Posted on March 28, 2008 | No CommentsSome Days have their work cut out for them--the 3 piece line-up consists of ex and current members of FM Bats, The Babes, Grand Elegance, Jail Weddings, The Clamour, More, and Methadone Kitty & The Daily Dose--which is definitely a resume worth bragging about. But the trio does not disappoint. 'Laundrette Demo' sounds like Family Fodder with, like, a dub-reggae twist that kind of reminds me of The Clash or

Posted on March 27, 2008 | 7 CommentsLegendary no-wavers Teenage Jesus & the Jerks have scheduled 2 concerts at the [New York] Knitting Factory in June. The lineup will include miss Lydia Lunch, Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds), and an "unnamed" bass player. Where The Hell Do You Think You’re Going, Steve Albini?
Posted on March 13, 2008 | 1 CommentI'm just not sure if I say it enough. Actually, I'll take that back--I'm totally sure that I DO NOT say it enough--Steve Albini, I love you, I love Rapeman, I love Big Black, and I love Shellac. Seriously this man writes like the most bitter, petty, cathartic, and universally comprehensible lyrics I can think of. He thinks the same psychotic, homicidal thoughts that you do when you find out

Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings Are Coming: Prepare to Be Soul Funked!
Posted on November 30, 2007 | No CommentsBrooklyn-based soul-brothers 'The Dap-Kings' and their queen, Miss Sharon Jones, seriously know how to party like it's Hitsville USA in 1962. I don't know how these cats do it, but they manage to authentically evoke the sound and image of a late 60's/early 70's R&B group without ever making it seem like a facade. It is this talent and sincerity that will instinctively move your ears to appreciate the tones -
How Do I Love Thee (Band Of Horses)….?
Posted on September 26, 2007 | No CommentsI have a confession to make. Are you ready? Do you promise not to laugh? Pinky-swear? I HAVE A HYPER-MACHO crush on Band of Horses! And it’s not just because they have cute little beards, nor is it because of the way vocalist/guitarist Ben Bridwell...
