Video: Flipper Interview/Show (in-store @ Amoeba San Francisco)
Posted on August 11, 2008 | 1 CommentSo Flipper played at Amoeba Music in San Francisco a few months ago, and I think Sam was gonna write about it or something but I guess he forgot. Anyway, Amoeba finally got around to posting the interview and performance videos.... looks like it was pretty fucking fantastic. Did anybody go? Was it as good as it looks in these videos?

Caveman Glam: Sludgehammer
Posted on August 8, 2008 | No CommentsSludgehammer is awesome! Dude uses a bass (that's it!) and belts out crass lyrics about men, women, drag, whatever the fuck he wants; he's so minimal that it's almost like he's lost his mind. At first glance I was almost surprised Sludgehammer was old enough to get into the bar, but once he starts singing in his deep manly voice and his muscles begin to flex while he plays bass, It becomes clear - he has a few years under his punk rock belt.

WAILING IN THE SUN WITH THE REVERB ON TWELVE – The Ferocious Few
Posted on July 6, 2008 | No CommentsToday I woke up way late in an unfamiliar bed, grabbed my clothes and started to walk to BART so I could get home. As I headed into the station at 16th and Mission I heard dark, brooding vocals and angry guitar strokes -- a definite plus when stumbling through a hangover. Then I caught eyes with the boy playing and thought yum!! who the fuck is this???

A Brief History of The Caldonias
Posted on June 30, 2008 | No CommentsWho the hell are these betches?!? In their own words, "so its basically like this.... bob plays guitar the way nadia sings and nadia sings the way bob plays guitar. and sydney....she fucking gets it man." In case that doesn't sell you, lemme give you my version: -
From Birch Book and In Gowan Ring to Natalie Portman in 108 words.
Posted on June 27, 2008 | 2 CommentsIn Gowan Ring and Birch Book luckily have the same singer/songwriter writing the music and playing the same/similiar hand made guitars... Each band incorporates my favorite elements of folk music; wafting vocals, mellow guitar plucks, yummy accompaniment, gentle-soothing lyrics, 60's style dress, and an overall free flowing sound

M. Lamar is proof: Something else is going on.
Posted on June 25, 2008 | 4 CommentsHey! I was born in the eighties and have a difficult time remembering original and exciting music too. Except for a handful of bands, the majority of music that has been recorded in the past 20 years sounds like a lot of time in a focus group was responsible for its production. By and large this is tedious and boring and a major reason why MTV totally became shitty and George Bush remains elected.

Take Off Your Clothes and Dance! Samnation
Posted on June 2, 2008 | 1 CommentSamnation is the solo project of this dude named Sam who claims he once found a Vera Wang wedding dress in the "Free" pile at a thrift store, but because he doesn't plan to marry anybody ever, he decided to auction off the dress and donate the money to fund research on space exploration.

2 Boys From San Francisco are GIRLS!
Posted on March 26, 2008 | No CommentsNo dude I'm not being a dick. It's true. Girls is the name under which these two kids from SF make music. I mean, I don't like to make a habit of reposting someone elses news, but like, what's all this news anyway? Someone else did it first. So I'll keep it real amd give 'em a throwback. I was reading gorilla vs. bear today and their most recent post
