LOS ANGELES – The 2009 “We The People” Festival originally scheduled for Nov. 21 has been postponed until early 2010. From the Festival: As organizers, we are committed to presenting only the finest event possible for this important movement. Due to ongoing economic challenges, we decided our best option was to move the event to a later date to insure these standards are maintained for the benefit of our important, loyal Continue reading WE THE PEOPLE MUSIC FESTIVAL RESCHEDULED FOR 2010… Not really sure how I missed this one guys, considering the fact that I live like 2 miles away from where this shindig’s gonna go down, and 2 or 3 of my friend’s bands are playing. Better late than never though, hmm? If you don’t have plans, now you do. Unless you’re like me and you don’t have 10 bucks to spend on it. So someone go, support the crew, be stoked that some awesome tunes are gonna be live within walking distance from your house – without the support of the Continue reading PARTY WEIRDO Festival Saturday Nov. 14th… Checkout this clip of Nirvana performing “School” at the 1992 Reading Festival – I guess it was recently made available for fans and comes from the CD+DVD Nirvana Live At Reading which hits stores November 17th. (CD only version arriving on November 3rd.) Nirvana’s performance at the Reading Festival in 1992 was one of the greatest Nirvana shows of all time (not that I’ve actually ever seen them live on anything other than video/tv) – but it was the one where Kurt Cobain came on stage in a hospital gown. Ring any bells? If not, don’t fret – fans can now own a color-corrected video from the original film with audio sourced from the original multi-track masters. Thanks to the guys at totalassault for sending this Continue reading Unseen Nirvana Footage From 1992… Bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh are hitting the stage as Sublime, just like they did in February – only, now everyone knows about it so FANS will actually get to go. The show is part of Cypress Hill’s Smokeout, and while Sublime might get the most attention, the lineup includes a ton of your favorites. Scheduled to hit the stage on Oct. 23 and 24 Continue reading Sublime Reunion (Again) – at Smokeout 2009… So thanks to Fever Dragon, Fantastic Weapon was able to secure press passes to FYF Fest at the last second – unfortunately, I was unable to make it because my car sucks and I’m a total stress-case so I can’t really hook you up with a review, but dude – THESE PHOTOS ARE INSANE. Especially the Dillinger Escape Plan pics. They are fucking PRISTINE. Give kudos to Kehni Davis aka Fever Dragon at his myspace – and even though he never EVER tweets, follow him on twitter (and maybe that will change!) Continue reading FYF Fest 2009 Photos…The schedule for FYF Fest has been posted. It’s this weekend, September 5th, and gates will open at 1:00pm. The event is ALL AGES. Tickets WILL be available at the door but it is strongly suggested that you purchase in advance to ensure entry – apparently they are selling fast. Here’s where you can do Continue reading FYF Fest Schedule Posted… The Jazz Butcher, also known as The Jazz Butcher Conspiracy and The Jazz Butcher And His Sikkorskis From Hell, are a British musical group founded by Pat Fish. Their oeuvre is blackly humorous with such topics as Thomas Pynchon’s The Crying of Lot 49, an unrequited crush on Shirley Maclaine, and an ode to SF writer Harlan Ellison. The song “Sister Death” is not about the comic book Continue reading THE JAZZ BUTCHER IS PLAYING PTP FEST 2… Featuring: Black Lips / Lightning Bolt / Tim & Eric (Adult Swim) / Lucero / Converge / F* Up / The Thermals / Glass Candy / No Age / Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio / Japanther / Times New Viking / Darker My Love / Carbonas / Peanut Butter Wolf / Crystal Antlers / AA Bondy /Mika Miko / Wavves / Nobunny / Telepathe / Cold Cave / Har Mar Superstar / The Strange Boys / Katie Stelmanis / Dios / Woods / NinjaSonik / Kurt Vile / Eat Skull / Avi Buffalo + more to be artists and comedians to be Continue reading FYF Fest Presents: Save Our State Parks… Sorry I forgot to give you guys the skinny on this all weekend long – I was busy on the red carpet at the 2008 Scream Awards, interviewing Gerard Way, snapping pics of Billy Corgan, Marilyn Mason, and Twiggy, and watching the Smashing Pumpkins play. I’m sure you understand. But on Friday as I was leaving Continue reading A Certain Ratio Confirmed for Part Time Punks Fest… Considering the fact that I didn’t go to last weekend’s Treasure Island Music Festival in San Fracisco, and the pope won’t be contributing as often as we’d all like him to, I can’t do much in the way of a review. However, I did speak with him about it and he really only had one thing to say: it was boring! I’m telling you, man, he shoulda taken ecstasy and gelled during Amon Tobin’s set. Boring woulda been the furthest thing from his gooey Continue reading GALLERY: Treasure Island Music Festival… |
