We at the weapon definitely dig Warpaint, and we’re also pretty stoked to hear that we’re gonna get to see ‘em with Yeasayer next month. The rest of the country gets ‘em with Akron/Family which ain’t too shabby, either. Dig some tunes and videos Continue reading Warpaint – ‘Elephants’ Video, Tour With Akron/Family…

Nada Surf Announce Spring Tour Dates, Album Of Cover Songs

Nada Surf bring their trademark sense of harmony and musical craftsmanship to 12 of their favorite songs with their latest release, if i had a hi-fi, their first album of covers. Only a group with their wide-ranging and eclectic taste could bring songs from such artists as Kate Bush, Dwight Twilley and the Go-Betweens together into a coherent, intelligent record. hi-fi also includes some intriguingly obscure numbers like Spanish band Mecromina’s “Evolution” and Bill Fox’s power-pop Continue reading Nada Surf Tour & Album Of Cover Songs…

You’ve all heard both of these songs already, and we probably woulda posted them ages ago had it not been for STUPID *****host breaking our FREAKING servers every other day. Thanks a lot, hosting service, for sucking ass and making us fall behind on like, everything. Ugh. Anyway, Beach House and Yeasayer are 2 of our very favorite current artists here at the weapon and they’re both gearing up for new releases in early 2010. Hot Hot Heat Readies New Album, Releases Two New Jams

Hot Hot Heat is an interesting band. It appears that, over the years, they’ve become one of those bands that can’t figure out what they want to be. Disco-punk heroes? Pop-rock radio sweethearts? Sensitive balladers (yeesh)? At one point or another, you could find a track or two to convince anyone of these. Let’s not be quick to dismiss, however: despite their apparent identity crisis, they have always managed to churn out some quality Continue reading Hot Hot Heat Readies New Album, Releases Two New Jams…

Durutti Column To Release Tony Wilson Tribute Early 2010

I fucking hate mondays. I hate them so much that I’d rather not participate in them at all, but this morning was cool cause while I was driving with one hand/tweeting/facebooking/smoking in shitty traffic, I came across the following news: Manchester post-punk act The Durutti Column will release and perform A Paean to Wilson – a tribute to Factory Records co-founder and Hacienda nightclub manager Tony Wilson – in January next year. Source: Durutti Column to release and perform tribute to Factory Records co-founder – Fact Continue reading Durutti Column To Release Tony Wilson Tribute Early 2010…

Norah Jones Talks Tom Waits on Soundcheck

I’m not really sure whether I’m all that into Norah Jones, but Sunday marks her return to Soundcheck. This time, she’s back to promote her upcoming record, “The Fall” which was co-written by the dude from Okkervil River and Ryan Adams, and which you can preview via NPR’s exclusive first listen. According to NPR, “It’s best to disregard much of the pre-release attention Continue reading Norah Jones on Soundcheck Nov 15th…

Yeasayer have confirmed details about their second album release; the follow-up to their highly acclaimed 2007 debut ‘All Hour Cymbals’. The new record is called Odd Blood and will be released on February 8th of 2010. STOKED. Hope it’s as good as the last one was. Yeasayer are also set to play a special show, headlining New York’s Guggenheim Museum on October 30. “Special Show” huh? Wonder WTF they mean by Continue reading NEW YEASAYER IN 2010…

Unseen Nirvana Footage From 1992

Checkout this clip of Nirvana performing “School” at the 1992 Reading Festival – I guess it was recently made available for fans and comes from the CD+DVD Nirvana Live At Reading which hits stores November 17th. (CD only version arriving on November 3rd.) Nirvana’s performance at the Reading Festival in 1992 was one of the greatest Nirvana shows of all time (not that I’ve actually ever seen them live on anything other than video/tv) – but it was the one where Kurt Cobain came on stage in a hospital gown. Ring any bells? If not, don’t fret – fans can now own a color-corrected video from the original film with audio sourced from the original multi-track masters. Thanks to the guys at totalassault for sending this Continue reading Unseen Nirvana Footage From 1992…
