New Three Mile Pilot Album Coming This Fall

3mp_soon

Are we really here? Is this really happening? When we say that we never thought this day would come, we REALLY mean it. The rumor of a new Three Mile Pilot album has been circulating for over a decade, further fueling the mystery and mythology that has swirled around the San Diego trio since the 1997 release of what was thought to be their swan song, the enormously influential Another Desert, Another Sea. The new release is called The Inevitable Past Is The Future Forgotten and it’s the first Three Mile Pilot album in 13 years. It also Continue reading New Three Mile Pilot Album Coming This Fall…

CILLA K.'s Debut Release is HOT

cilla-k-fine-line

I’m not really a fan of most hip-hop or urban soul. There, I said it. And it’s not really cause I don’t like it as much as it’s the sheer fact that a lot of it just isn’t very interesting. It sounds the same, or it’s too self-assuming, or it just doesn’t strike me, which is why I really dig this chick’s sound. CILLA K. is a vocalist, beat maker and songwriter based in New York, and she’s a fucking good one. The only thing that my [extremely limited] knowledge of this style of music brings to mind Continue reading CILLA K.’s Debut Release is HOT…

Melvins Release New Album - Stupid Name, Good Tunes

the-melvins-bride-screamed-murder-album-art

Let me just preface by saying it’s late and I’m tired – I do dig the new Melvins track (see below) but haven’t gotten my hands on a copy of the new album so I can’t really say much about it, except for the name is super cheesey and I hate it. C’mon, really? The Bride Screamed Murder? Hopefully the tunes will cancel out the album name. Anyway, dig some words on the subject (my favorite of which is ‘soul-crushing’) that didn’t come from my fingertips:

The Rolling Stones Prepare To Re-Release Exile On Main Street

2378

The Rolling Stones are preparing to re-release their 1972 classic album Exile On Main Street. (Properly) Regarded as one of the greatest albums in rock ‘n’ roll history and one of the most defining of the Stones’ catalogue (my personal favorites are Big Hits Vol. 2 & Tattoo You, but EOMS is a very close third), Exile On Main Street will be re-released on May 18th. Fans will be treated to 10 new tracks, including “Plundered My Soul”, “Dancing in the Light”, “Following the River” and “Pass the Wine”, as well as alternate versions of “Soul Survivor” and Continue reading The Rolling Stones Prepare To Re-Release Exile On Main Street…

Stream The Dirty Heads "Any Port in a Storm" Out Today

dirty-heads-promo

We like The Dirty Heads cause we think they kinda sound like Eminem if he made white-kid reggae. We also like ‘em cause we like Sublime & Sublime’s new singer Rome, and he did that one track with them that’s like the only good song they play on the radio. Ever. So we’re pretty stoked to be one of the only sites offering a stream of the complete special edition release of the band’s debut, Any Port In A Storm. Dig the tunes below and keep scrolling for a video and upcoming tour dates. DIRTY HEADS SPRING 2010 Continue reading Stream The Dirty Heads “Any Port in a Storm” Out Today…

Sugar & Gold: Get on Yr Danse-ing Shoes

S&G

A band name like Sugar & Gold may conjure up some sort of image of party-rockers, prone to disco freakouts and fun times.  In the case of this particular band, that mental visage certainly holds true.  See that picture up there?  Yeah, that’s the kind of music you’re in for, and I’ll be damned if it’s not catchy. These guys seemingly came out of nowhere, but their debut full-length Get Wet! suggests a band that’s been at this for quite some time now.  A fully realized mishmash of electro-funk, disco backbeats, and indie pop, it’s both instantly accessible Continue reading Sugar & Gold: Get on Yr Danse-ing Shoes…

The Dum Dum Girls

screen-shot-2010-02-12-at-8-05-39-pm

Unsurprisingly, we think you should head on over to their site for reals and give it a listen because the media player in that post is way cooler than this one. FYI, we kinda love this band for more than just the stupid cat photo, sweet name, pretty sick video. We’ll fill you in on all the other stuff when we figure out what it is.

warpaint-exquisite-corpse-cover

We at the weapon definitely dig Warpaint, and we’re also pretty stoked to hear that we’re gonna get to see ‘em with Yeasayer next month. The rest of the country gets ‘em with Akron/Family which ain’t too shabby, either. Dig some tunes and videos and Continue reading Warpaint – ‘Elephants’ Video, Tour With Akron/Family…

Nada Surf Announce Spring Tour Dates, Album Of Cover Songs

nada-surf-ifihifi

Nada Surf bring their trademark sense of harmony and musical craftsmanship to 12 of their favorite songs with their latest release, if i had a hi-fi, their first album of covers. Only a group with their wide-ranging and eclectic taste could bring songs from such artists as Kate Bush, Dwight Twilley and the Go-Betweens together into a coherent, intelligent record. hi-fi also includes some intriguingly obscure numbers like Spanish band Mecromina’s “Evolution” and Bill Fox’s power-pop “Electrocution.” Continue reading Nada Surf Tour & Album Of Cover Songs…
