  • NO AGE Nouns Album Cover

I accidentally downloaded the new NO AGE for free. All of it.

But I'm not gonna tell you where. See cause it comes out on May 6th, which clearly isn't for another 2 weeks. But here's what I will do. I'll post a couple tracks (other than the ONLY one you can find ANYWHERE, Eraser) and we'll see where that takes us. Rest assured, though, the record is good. And I'm being as non-descript as possible.

Stream New Portishead Now on Last.fm

Thanks to last.fm you can now stream "Third" in its entirety, which you should probably do, because it's a pretty good release and I didn't realize so many of you hadn't already heard it. If you're still unaware, and the contest is still going on, L.A. listeners can win 2 tickets from Buzznet.com to a private, pre-Coachella Portishead rehearsal. The ehearsal takes place on 4/24 (that's THIS Thursday) so get on

Moonrats and Warpaint at the Viper Room

I've got about a million things to do this week besides hold down, like, a regular job that is really far away. So in case you suck at remembering (like me) lets re-cap what we absolutely cannot miss. Unless you're going to Coachella:

    Yeasayer in L.A. this week

I never expect anything new to be even borderline decent, so when c4 threw up that Free Blood post and included a track from Yeasayer on the end, I didn't expect to dig it as much as I did. Yeasayer is Anand Wilder, Chris Keating, Ira Wolf Tuton, Luke Fasano, and they are definitely more than decent. They make like, what Bollywood and Tinariwen would've collaboratively contributed to new wave

Human Ear Music Presents Gary Wilson and The Blind Dates

What'd I tell you? That song's called 'Gary's in the Park,' from the 2006 release, "Mary Has Brown Hair" on Stones Throw Records. I guess he's got a whole band now and they go by Gary Wilson and The Blind Dates. They're playing at 1830 Sunset Blvd with Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti on April 26th, and you could

See The Dodos at Amoeba Hollywood for free

Updates have been rather sparse this week cause I just started this new job and I don't even get half as much sleep as I used to, which wasn't very much at all in the first place. This means I am more exhausted than I've been in years and I can barely drive myself home let alone find shit to write about. But I do work down the street

    The Secret Weezer Album

Are you kidding me with this "Pork and Beans" single? When I first heard the title of the new Weezer single I thought the worst. Then I heard the new album was going to be called "the red album" and I had hope. Hope that this album would truly be a return to form for Weezer after the terrible Make Believe. Unfortunately, "Pork and Beans" sounds more in line with

    Excepter. Burgers. Brilliant.

Brilliant. I'm not really sure if I've been living in a hole or what have you, but this band has like 15 releases and I'd never heard them until a few nights ago when this kid who totally shoulda been my high school sweetheart posted the video for 'Burgers' on MySpace. I've included it here because it's the least embarrassing (or most accessible) of the 12341234123 videos on their website you can watch/download/laugh at/use to find the deeper meaning of life:

    Wolf Parade v1.5

Apparently someone loves Wolf Parade more than I do. I know this because I have proof. The proof is a live, unofficial fan album circling the net called "Pardon My Blues." Some big fan did everyone a favor and compiled the highest quality bootlegs of new songs the gang have been playing over the last year and a half or so. They even went as far as cutting out obnoxious

    Gettin’ Jicky with it

Let me just say this now: I love Pavement. One my fondest memories is getting plastered with my buddy Gabe and singing Slanted and Enchanted in it's entirety... well, almost entirely, anyways. The cops came somewhere around 'Loretta's Scars'. Damn fine run though.
