Bloc Party Announce UK Tour Plans
Posted on September 22, 2008 | 2 CommentsSo after getting his ass beat by a middle-aged punk legend, and after releasing yet another boring record, Kele Okereke has decided to do some more touring. Yay. Bloc Party will hit the road in January of 2009, and thank god they won't be headed this way. Word on the street is that the guys will play 7 or 8 different live dates in four or five cities in the -
Fall 2008 Tour Dates – The Mountain Goats
Posted on September 22, 2008 | No CommentsI'm actually not really sure how long ago these dates were announced - likely ages ago, considering how out of the freaking loop I am, but I don't care because I love this band so if it's already been drilled into your brain, then I'll do some more drilling. I repeat: I love this band. That's not an easy thing to say about many bands, but I LOVE this band -
In Their Strange White Armor – Radio Flyer
Posted on September 22, 2008 | 2 CommentsI am so irritated with feedburner right now that I apologize if this post comes out shitty - but the feed is fixed so that's enough for me. Kind of. Moving on: So when I was like 15 I listened to emo. But not like, the Fall Out Boy/My Chemical Romance stuff that isn't really emo. Emo like Sunny Day Real Estate and Mineral and Jejune emo. I don't remember where -
Action Kylie – By Kyle Killian
Posted on September 20, 2008 | 1 CommentKevin Killian's long awaited collection of poems, Action Kylie, is out! "Kylie Minogue, more than muse, is K. K.'s aesthetic m.o., his ammo. Around her name and image, he circulates the particles of his own uncanny idiom, which is unlike anything in contemporary American poetry. Killian works every instrument in the band; he sneaks up behind meaning, and makes it sing.

East Villiage Radio Festival – Boris
Posted on September 20, 2008 | No CommentsThank God for Boris. Hearing this band play live makes my bones vibrate in exactly the right way. Boris is from Japan, and they're just getting ready to set out on tour with Nine Inch Nails. These guys make some tunes that are hard to pigeonhole. Their style swings violently from mood to mood, stopping to play around with sounds of metal, drone, shoegaze, punk, and very loud psychedelic rock. -
East Village Radio Festival – High Places
Posted on September 20, 2008 | No CommentsHigh Places hail from Brooklyn and this was my third time seeing them. The band's sound is full of lovely contradictions. They write music that feels like summertime - and not that loud beach party sort of summertime, but more like a summer you've had and remember. To me, summer has always seemed distant - even in July. -
Treasure Island Music Fest: Sept 20 & Sept 21
Posted on September 19, 2008 | No CommentsDust off your dancing shoes and stretch the fuck out 'cause this weekend is gonna be crazy at the Treasure Island Music Festival!!!! When I first moved to San Francisco and I was a broke ass college student, I lived on Treasure Island. We used to have awesome ravey dance parties on the rocks along the bay at like 7am after long nights of heavy drinking and drug use

Static Noise and Icelandic Blow Jobs – Kid Twist
Posted on September 17, 2008 | No CommentsThe good people of Iceland have proven time again they know how to produce breathtaking experimental, raucous, and avant-garde sounds. Kid Twist is a must-hear and definitely a must-watch, up-and-coming band and they are tearing up record studios in Iceland right now. Their music is noisy, static-ridden, angry, dark, and brooding surf-rock that makes me want to smoke way to many cigarettes and punch holes in my wall. -
New Psychic TV Album
Posted on September 12, 2008 | 1 CommentSorry I've been away, kids, but I've been striving to make some extra cash so I can go to a party in New York commemorating the upcoming release of a new Psychic TV album, "Mr. Alien Brain vs The Skinwalkers." The party is on November 9th at Club Europa in Brooklyn, and it's slated to be their only US performance in the near future. Do blame them? America has
