
It isn’t so amazing to me to hear that NYU has a Riot Grrl collection since I went to UCLA and took classes like “New York City Punk 1975-1980″ (the textbook was Please Kill Me) and “The History of Electronic Dance Music” (among others), but I was glad to hear about it today cause I think I may have forgotten all about Bikini Kill for a number of years.
Thanks to feministe.us for the reminder. Anyway, yeah, NYU has a Riot Grrl collection to which the queen of the neighborhood, Kathleen Hanna, has donated The Kathleen Hanna Papers.
The “papers” are believed to contain her many zines, much of her correspondences and plenty of material pertaining to her time in Bikini Kill, as well as various other writings. This is cool for a number of obvious reasons.
