Recitement – Upcoming Stephen Emmer Release

Stephen Emmer, Dutch composer and leader of an under-appreciated Factory Records act, has released a “new” record. The album, titled RECITEMENT, will be officially released by Allegro Music on October 14, but you can listen to the mp3 or buy the whole record on emusic.com right now.

Emmer has scored new and appropriated recordings by such musical and literary heavyweights as Lou Reed, Jorge Luis Borges (I love him!), Richard Burton, Allen Ginsberg, Sylvia Kristel, Michael Lonsdale, Kazu Makino (Blonde Redhead, DUH), Ken Nordine – who is hysterical, might I add; make sure to check out “down the drain”, Silvina Ocampo, Kurt Schwitters – who cut shit up W-A-A-Y before a one Bill Burroughs did, and tons more. With texts by Alessandro Baricco, Samuel Beckett, Charles Baudelaire, Yoko Ono, Paul Theroux, and others.

To be frank: the album is beautiful. Be warned: when you listen to it you should really just buy some weed and plan on spending the entire afternoon on laying on the floor, staring at the ceiling, and propelling toward the furthest depths of imagination – a.k.a. stoned as hell.
