Skinny Dip(lo): Summer Mixtape Vol. 2

Even though I’m not going back to school this time around, my summer is almost over, and like the one before it, this one had a soundtrack. Last summer’s playlist was made up of Trojan Records box sets, Easy Star Allstars, and Leftover Crack (C4 can definitely vouch for that!), but his summer I’ve been vibing on more exotic electronic music that has been (justly) overrun by Diplo.

In case you weren’t aware, Diplo is a fantastic producer who seems to surround himself with the coolest and most talented musicians from all corners of the earth. (i.e. Curtis Jenkins Loves Baile Funk). He’s been all over the place this summer, releasing Major Lazer’s excellent Lazers Never Die and the La Roux collaboration Lazerproof, as well as cranking out a slew of remixes and racking up a ton of epic production credits.

My favorite part about Diplo’s remixes are the obscure samples and tracks he uses – hisstyle is hard to categorize, and that’s why I like it. Dig part 2 (and the final segement) of Curtis’ Summer Mixtape, below.

love,
Mr. Curtis Jenkins
