Static Disco’s Answer to Aphex Twin: Kobol

Ok, sometimes. See it happened like this:

So when I was editing The Pope’s post about Carolee I stumbled across this chick who calls herself Carrie. I was probably only interested in viewing her myspace page because we are both Carrie – not Kerry, Keri, Cari, etc. But CARRIE, but I found good things. That was a wise click on my part.

Ok, maybe Carrie isn’t her real name. Maybe it’s really Laura B and she’s from Guadalajara, but there’s absolutely nothing disappointing about her music. And dude you should probably go look at her myspace profile cause it’s pretty bitchen. And whoever does the photography on it should be commended – it’s gorgeous. I kinda fucked up this photo but I pulled it from the Carrie myspace page – it was way better before I tried to bust some FX on it.

What I’m wondering: for someone with such decent tunes that I’ve never heard of, her discography is pretty massive. It goes back to like 2003. There’s a new album on it’s way, called “1981″ (on Static Disco and when I clicked her pre-order link it took me to the Darla online music store, and the first thing I saw on the page was “FEATURED ARTIST: The Durutti Column”.

I AM FREAKING SOLD.

If you’re not you should probably go over to the Static Records website and just listen to their radio station. It’s amazing. That’ll do the trick.

Hey fuck this: anyone wanna go to mexico?

Anyway, I can’t find any actual files from her upcoming record, but it’s streaming on her myspace page and I did find an older EP still available for download via Poni Republic. It’s a split with some dudes called The Oslo Deadtrash Project, who also sound like a sweet find and have a totally rad header on their myspace profile.

DOWNLOADS:
Carrie + The Oslo Death Project – Solar 1: Part 1 / The Night
Carrie and the Oslo Death Project – Solar 2 / The Day
That’s all you get from me. Download the rest at Poni Republic

And while you’re at it, check out Kobol. I can’t get the track I really want to you to hear out of their flash player, but here’s this one and you should probably go listen to the rest on their website. The album is called Extempore, and it’s waiting for you at kobolmusic.com

Kobol – Tanque

Check out their Aphex Twin-esque video for “Envy”
