L.A.’s Murmur Paints the Town Hot Pink and Loves Steve Albini, Too.
So I guess people are still making some pretty decent music. I don’t know much about this dude (these dudes?) except that he or they are not very serious individuals and do not want anybody to know much of anything about who they are. I scoured the various links they provide on their myspace profile and only found myself looking at some [really good] street art from their “late night excursions in the la/hollywood area” and a disclaimer about the quality of the tracks provided on their profile. And I quote:
the songs on our page are just there to give an idea of our sound. these versions are not mastered or even really mixed very well for that matter. they were all recorded in one take by our friend famous modell just so we could have something to hear and help shon to learn the songs better. we had other songs up previously but have since added a drummer to the band and are playing newer stuff and feel that what we had posted didn’t represent us properly. so eventually these songs will be of a better quality but for now fuck it, just give us some shows so we can make enough money to pay steve albini to record us!!!
I dug the music within the first ten seconds of the first song, but now I can’t really get over it because everyone knows about my Steve Albini obsession–truthfully, I can’t think of a better reason for people to give these guys money. So listen. Love. Or don’t. But hopefully they get enough money and Steve Albini DOES record them, even if they don’t end up letting me modify this and this to use on the site.
