Gobloots is the sound of failure.

daddy gobloots, in his better days

I bet you like Bob Dylan. And I bet you like Bright Eyes, too. If I won both of those bets, it’s highly likely that you’ll be pretty into Gobloots. But here’s the difference. Where the bob dylan generation gap exists, and where Bright Eyes is more than a tad bit melodramatic, Gobloots feels and sings about everything you’ve ever felt and wished you could sing about. (Little things, like smoking lights while you smoke reds and living to be 33, which a friend of mine used to say he was gonna do, to be just like Jesus. He’s now 36.)

Members Alex Salcido (”recovering idiot savant, singing, words, rambling guitar strum, harmonica, piano at other people’s houses when i’m lucky, retarded garageband recordings.”) and Anthony Marquez (”drum and midi programming, producer, engineer, soon to be slave to world of warcraft, and pretty much anything else he wants to do”) are self-made, warbling, martyrs and seem to have the same issues with driving to Arizona that I do. But thats why this stuff’s so good. And also cause Salcido says shit like “I’ll wear your bra if you wear my spine.” WTF???? Uh, ok, no thanks?

He did write me an unbelievably modest letter though, which you can read if you click here. And read more Gobloots words at Gobloots, the sound of failure. Anyways, in his lyrics he talks about doing coke and meth just cause he’s bored, and jerking off to porn because apparently the kids say that’s what he’s missing. I wonder what’d happen a year from now if someone gave him Charles Manson to listen to. Despite all this wondering, I think it’s good, and you can listen to ‘Idiot Boxing’ and ‘Lucy Marathon’ from Gobloots Memorial Highway, which he recorded on his friend’s mom’s macbook. Make sure you visit Gobloots on myspace to hear more because it’s utterly fantastic.
