I’ve been a little slow on the blog this summer, with good reason – dog, new job, no money, etc – but I figure it’s kind of my duty to kick you guys down with the details for this year’s FYF Fest, since I’ve done it pretty much every year….
The lineup was announced a week or 2 ago and includes some pretty awesome shit that we’ve written about in the past….
For starters, fucking UNBROKEN is on this years FYF lineup. Yeah, and I do mean the Life Love Regret UNBROKEN. What the fuck? My friend had that written in huge white letters on the back windshield of his car when he was the only one of my friends who drove. If you’ve ever been into the “hardcore scene” (i put it in quotes cause i think it’s ridiculous), then you’re probably as stoked as I am to see their name on the lineup. The list also features the likes of 7 Seconds, which just happens to be the band that headlined the first show I ever went to. That was at the Troubadour when I was like 12 or 13 years old, and they played with Youth Brigade. Some Nazi got up on stage and zeig heiled, and the bouncers let the crowd beat the shit out of him before they threw him out on the street. It ruled. Actually, it probably scared the shit out of me cause I was in 7th grade, but that was 14 years ago and now I’m old and think it’s awesome.
Other favorites on the lineup include AA Bondy, The Mountain Goats, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, !!!, Warpaint, and the Growlers.
I think this is my favorite lineup ever. Kudos to our friends at FYF Fest for killing it once again. This year’s festival is on September 4th at the Los Angeles State Historic Park – click the link for info and tickets. (Sidenote: the website looks awesome this year.)
