Amon Tobin Banned From Facebook

So this is like, totally old news but I think it’s funny, fucked up, and under-exposed enough to bring you guys the info. Amon Tobin’s facebook profile was deleted without notice. In his own words:

despite countless facebook profile images which are genuinely designed to titillate using the female anatomy, a comedic image of a man performing an act that is not only not erotic but indeed not physically possible is what’s ultimately deemed ‘too hot for facebook’.

How fucked up is that?!?! I mean, seriously, and the most ridiculous part of it is that not even 2 days prior to Amon Tobin’s myspace bulletin, I got a message from some dude whose profile image was literally just a fucking penis – just a huge, hard-as-fuck, bare-ass-naked, straight-up DICK (all puns intended). DICK-MAN’S PROFILE WAS NOT DELETED.

The picture that caused the unjust act of deletion? It’s the image on the cover of the movie Taxidermia – aka “The Taxidermist” – a Hungarian film from director Gyorgy Palfi, released in 2006 for which Tobin composed the score. View the trailer:

I’m pretty sure I was on ecstasy the first time I heard Amon Tobin – how else would I have somehow ended up over-zealously discussing The Durutti Column and finally deciding that Vini Reilly’s guitar sounds “wet”? Ha. I definitely recommend getting your hands on a copy of Foley Room (which shouldn’t be a difficult task because it’s a fairly recent release and isn’t rare by any means) and blasting Kitchen Sink until way after your eyes disappear into the back of your head. The best part was that I didn’t expect it to sound half as good a couple days after the “magic” had died, when in fact it sounded more than half as good. Maybe like, 90% as good.
