Early last week, The Raveonettes unveiled an ode to overdosing and/or love called “Last Dance,” the first proper single from the Danish noir-rocker’s October 6th Vice release, In And Out Of Control. I have qualms with the idea of an “ode” to overdosing – that’s kinda messed up – but the song is actually really freaking good so I’m willing to overlook it’s subject matter. Kind of.
Yesterday, AOL Spinner premiered another teaser clip from The Chelsea Sessions featurette centered on the single, which, according to Sharin Foo, went through four or five different studio iterations (one of which, you’ll remember, was released via Twitter in June). The Chelsea Sessions, a 20-minute video loaded with performances of five Control cuts and a lengthy discussion about the making of the record, will be available exclusively with purchase of the album at iTunes, where the release is currently available for pre-order. In other news, apart from previewing the new record for a swooning club of London show-goers, the band recently offered Drowned In Sound a sneak peek at the video shoot for “Last Dance,” replete with a beach backdrop, a rickety old rowboat, and a dead seagull. Keep an eye out for the world premiere later this month. In the meantime, hear the song itself, and watch the Chelsea Session Clip below.
