Shitty Jingles is this kid Adam Finkin I’ve known for like a long time. He used to (or still does) run around with some kids who my ex boyfriend got in the divorce like 5 years ago – considering that, and the fact that I don’t go out too often anymore, I don’t see him much – but a couple years ago he put some of his tunes up on a myspace page and they were pretty impressive. Today he sent me his demo and I must admit – it’s pretty effing fantastic. When trying to figure out how I could describe it I decided I couldn’t really. It’s like a less-prog, more-goth, acoustic version of Pink Mountaintops. Like if Nike Drake and Ian Curtis made a baby who was raised by Nick Cave in the 80′s and loved his father, but always really looked up to his grampa, Leonard Cohen, a whole lot more.
Wow. That’s ridiculous. And maybe not entirely accurate? Anyway, you should listen to it, and if you like it you should contact Adam on Facebook and tell him cause he doesn’t have a web page for his music yet and it makes people feel good when things they make are appreciated by total strangers.
