M.A.U. = Portugese Goodness

LAB4

Just got a stellar new track from the fellas in M.A.U., otherwise known as Man and Unable.  These gents are an electro-house duo from Portugal — unless they’re playing live, in which case they tack on another two members — and are yet another reason why the Southern Hemisphere is bringing the heat in terms of excellent dance music (see also X-Wife, the Twelves, and almost anything on Modular).

This little gem is called “Toboggan,” off their upcoming record (which is untitled or self-titled, I can’t really tell).  It almost feels like two songs in one, with the latter half basically being an extended outro.  Throughout the track, slick, sexy bass lines a la Justice or more recent Chromeo accent snappy electronic drum beats and  bright 80′s-esque synths.  Luis F. de Sousa’s vocals in the first half carry themselves not unlike Danny Saville of the Whip, with perhaps some better lyrics revolving mostly around dancing, drinking whiskey, and a lot of oh’s; ironic, seeing as English isn’t their first language.  This segues into much heavier house beats in the second half which is sure to cause any hipster to officially lose their shit on the dance floor.

Check it out; I’m really digging this.  As a bonus, here are a couple of other remixes that don’t quite surpass the original, but are definitely some interesting takes on it.
