As a 90’s kid I love bitchy female vocals, droning guitars, and basically all things that are influenced by the punk, grunge and shoegaze scenes. Carolee is a myspace find and she has been equally inspired by the same scenes, probably more so, so she’s put out some songs that slid right into my heart.
Straight from the horses mouth:
The songs were recorded in my friend Paul’s garage in southern new jersey – my other friend tom played the drums and i did the guitars and the vocals. I really really really like guitars, as silly as that probably sounds. I started out playing drums actually, but once I started playing guitar it kind of took me over. Two people that have influenced me a lot are Vanessa Briscoe and Kira Roessler. Other bands that have influenced me are Husker Du, Jesus Lizard and Sleater-Kinney to name just a few. Anyway, I live in southern new jersey about a half hour outside of philadelphia, so that’s usually where southern nj people go for shows and stuff. Some of my favorite Philly/NJ bands are Home Blitz, Clockcleaner, The Beautiful Traps, The FNU Ronnies, Kurt Vile, The Swimmers, and The Bad News Bats. Hmmm what else……oh my favorite nj radio stations are wfmu and wprb, and my favorite nj podcasts are anti static and the unbending ear. i think anti static is done for the summer but the old archives are still cool to hear. so yeah…I’m recording new songs all the time and as I get stuff done I will put them on cd-rs or cassettes or 7 inch records for whoever wants them.
