So I live in this house that happens to be a pretty hot spot for shows if you live in Macomb, IL (which you probably don’t), and last weekend we had a hip-hop show. Towards the end of the show one of the acts, Vertual Vertigo, announced their participation in what I like to call a new hip-hop “supergroup”. 500 LB GUERILLA is made up of (in my opinion) a few of Chicago’s best real hip-hop artists – Phillip Morris, Awdazcate, Elevation, and Vertual Vertigo.
I’ve known the guys from Vertual Vertigo for a hot minute so I can tell you with some authority that theirs is a group that strives to embody the spirit of classic hip-hop culture – which they do quite well, but also manage to keep it fresh and be accessible. Dudes put on a pretty badass show, too.
Vertigo just released an excellent mixtape produced by my friend Japandrew called From Up There that you can download for zero dollars and zero cents
Also, worth a listen: their latest LP Sparkie’s Bungalow. Dig the 2 tracks below, and pick up a copy on their official site.
Cheers to Vertual Vertigo and true hip-hop!

Love Same Ol' Girl. We need more mellow hiphop like this nowadays. Takes me back to the days old school de la soul.
I wish I'd kept the demo they gave me… Curtis! Send me one of the CDs they gave us when they played at your house!
