I've been away for like a gajillion years cause nothing has moved me enough to write about it. I think it's fitting that my first post after such a long absence would have something to do with shit that totally sucks. I can not emphasize it enough: this TOTALLY sucks. I mean, what the FUCK is this shit? I wanted my friend Chris to draw mustaches on their faces in this photo, but I feel like the level of suck is obvious enough - no defacing required.

This ain't no daily…

Up-and-coming Estonian pop-star Kerli performed her (soon-to-be-massive) hit song, "Walking On Air," in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 18th for the taping of Spike TV's 2008 Scream Awards. This little gothic Lolita provides us with a much-needed new blend of goth-infused trip-hop that tickles the spine and sends oxygen rushing to the brain - and she's cute as a little button! While the word "cute" may reek with discredit, don't be mislead - her dark, dreamy pop music deserves much more than a fighting chance.
Kerli's Scream Awards performance was nothing short of massive sensory overload. It included background projections

Sorry I forgot to give you guys the skinny on this all weekend long - I was busy on the red carpet at the 2008 Scream Awards,
interviewing Gerard Way, snapping pics of Billy Corgan, Marilyn Mason, and Twiggy, and watching the Smashing Pumpkins play. I'm sure you understand. But on Friday as I was leaving work and checking myspace bulletins on my Blackberry I saw something that nearly made me

Ian Mackaye. What to say about Ian Mackaye. THERE'S SO MUCH. Damnit. I was lucky enough to be in the car when Mackaye was guesthosting one of
Henry Rollins' radio shows a few months ago, and jesus, dude, I still can't get over how cool BOTH of those dudes are. What's with DC, man? It spawns shit and it spawns awesome. Anyway, whatever, on the show he told this story about how
Minor Threat was playing a show in Camden, NJ at this

This is a pretty shocking article, to be honest. The shocking part isn't that the members of No Age were asked NOT to wear their pro Obama tshirts while taping for the Late Late show with Craig Ferguson - the shock comes when you find out that they actually played the show after being asked to remove the shirts. For the record: I don't have a problem with their decision to play. I mean, I am a little piqued that the network actually thought it

A new EP from the Mountain Goats was released today in the classically contemporary, pay-what-you-want, Radiohead-esque style. The downloadable album is called Satanic Messiah and is available in either FLAC (smaller!) or MP3 formats. Darnielle states that it will also be available as a VERY limited edition gatefold vinyl. In his own words:
The songs will also be available as a limited

Manchester-based post-punk group
Magazine have announced the U.S. release of a 17-track compilation of tracks recorded on
John Peel's BBC 1 radio show. The gem of songs, recorded between 1978 and 1981, is set to drop in the land of the free (hah) on November 25th. In most cases I really could care less about a Peel Sessions release vs. a regular release - exceptions being
Family Fodder, Joy Division, and

Continuing in the tradition of the pope, here's your random Kylie Minogue update:
"Kylie Minogue is reportedly working on a musical based on her hit songs and has asked Australian novelist Kathy Lette to be involved. In other Kylie news, British tabloid reports claimed that security has tightened around Minogue's Nov. 20 show at the opening of the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai after discovering "a terror plot." Minogue was named the top-earning entertainer in the Business Review Weekly list of the wealthiest Australians younger

So things finally managed to work themselves out and I will NOT be missing MBV while they're in town. I"ve been
anticipating this shit since like November of last year, when I used to be real up on everything, checking my feeds like 50 times a day and all that good stuff. To tell you the truth, I dono how I did it. Now I can't even be bothered to write a review of
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds at the Hollywood Bowl on the 17th -
