Absolving Kansas City: Witch and Hare

Kansas City, Misery is responsible for some very (in my opinion) banal bands that have heavily influenced mainstream pop culture over the past ten years; Puddle of Mudd, The Get Up Kids, and Reggie and the Full Effect. If the Great American Novel is currently being written and if it is set in the present, it will unfortunately have to take into consideration the way those bands have shaped and dumbed down American youth culture. However, as the Great American Novel, it should also take into consideration kids from the other side of the tracks that do things independently and on their own terms, despite whether or not it sells. As a writer, I keep my eyes peeled and so far, Witch and Hare have yet to bore me.… Continue reading Absolving Kansas City: Witch and Hare
Meet the wayfaring strangers who helped me escape from Kate Bush

Yes. I have heard of Kate Bush. I am not linking to her because not only have I heard of her, but I have also listened to her songs, danced to her videos, and memorized her lyrics. I’ve decided sure, she’s fine, but really…lets move on because I’m sick of Kate Bush and thankfully I’ve found a worth escape route, via Continue reading Meet the wayfaring strangers who helped me escape from Kate Bush

Throw Me The Statue - Lolita (this post has free mp3’s and boobs in it)
Now, let me know guys - am I a little late on this one??

If you’re lucky enough to be in Seattle this weekend, you probably already know that you’re in for a treat. This Friday and Saturday brings what looks like the Northwestern equivalent to the Sunset Junction, but with a cooler name: The Capitol Hill Block Party. Truthfully, I didn’t know anything about this until about 20 minutes ago when I finally decided to stop laying awake in bed and write something about the song I heard on Subterranean earlier this week. See, I find myself awake at 4am pretty often (which, if you’ve been reading the weapon for longer than a month or so, my posting habits would blatantly declare…). Anyway, on this particular occasion, when I found myself awake at 4am on Tuesday (or Wednesday?) night, I found something worthy of imparting to the 40 or 50 of you who seem to be paying attention. So listen up:… Continue reading Throw Me The Statue - Lolita (this post has free mp3's and boobs in it)
Shwayze and Cisco are in Cahootz

First thing’s first - what’s Resonate? I honestly can’t believe I haven’t read much of ANYTHING about this on any other blog yet, but Resonate is this thing that Buzznet’s got goin on where they’ll invite an artist into their Hollywood studio to do an interview and exclusive acoustic set. Sorta like a daytrotter thing, only they aren’t really looking for up-and-coming artists; they kinda already get artists who are up. WAY UP. Like Shwayze. Shwayze’s the name of the project’s premier vocalist, which also has that dude DJ Skeet Skeet on the 1’s and 2’s and producer Cisco Adler on guitar. Their song “Buzzin” is kinda huge right now. Watch Shwayze perform “Buzzin” on Buzznet:… Continue reading Shwayze and Cisco are in Cahootz
Johnny Rotten Proves He’s Still Punk By Having His Friends Beat Up The Dude From Bloc Party

The 50+ year old punk rocker apparently caused a bit of a “racial scrap” at the Summercase Festival in Barcelona on Saturday. Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke was attacked by the punker’s entourage and suffered “facial cuts and bruises”, provoked by simply asking Lydon if he’d ever consider getting kinda whack, post-punk outfit P.I.L. back together.… Continue reading Johnny Rotten Proves He's Still Punk By Having His Friends Beat Up The Dude From Bloc Party

Judy Garland - The Original Wino

Way before Amy Winehouse’s first all-night crack binge, the legendary Judy Garland sat down with a bottle of gin, a tape recorder, and probably some sweet drugs like luudes or something, to record her inner-most thoughts. Baad idea lady. I guess the tapes were supposed to be for a “tell all” autobiography type thing, but the book was never written. Eventually someone found these super-rare recordings and turned them into a double CD that shows everyone how stupid, pissed-off, egotistical, and downright fucking SCARY little Dorothy really was. You can buy it from Counterpoint Music, but you can preview 2 tracks (thanks to The Pope) right here on the weapon.

Earthless, RTX, and Bad Dudes at Spaceland Tonight

I like Bad Dudes, and I KNOW you guys like Bad Dudes too, cause everyone likes Bad Dudes. And your google searches prove it.
I like RTX. They played at the Prospector with Tweak Bird many moons ago, and I totally missed out because I didn’t know I liked them. I was pretty pissed about it, which is how you’re going to feel if you miss them tonight.… Continue reading Earthless, RTX, and Bad Dudes at Spaceland Tonight
